Twenty two senior traffic police officers have been moved in a shake-up. The officers, with the ranks of inspector and chief inspector, have been replaced by colleagues from other departments.
The changes were authorised by Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi. The officers are to report to their new stations by Friday.
Narok Base Commander Said Hamisi swapped places with Ms Jane Nyaga of Wilson airport.
The officer in charge of traffic at Gigiri in Nairobi, Mr Julius Okombo, was moved to Rachuonyo South and his place taken by Mr Philip Mwangi.
Others are Mr James Ekwenye (Base Commander, Kisii) to the control room in Nairobi county headquarters. He swapped places with Mr Joseph Nzomo.
Mr David Nyakundi was moved from Central Police Division where he was in charge of traffic to take charge of operations in Laikipia West. He swapped places with Mr Paul Oduor.
The changes were made to boost credibility in the traffic department, which is regarded the most corrupt government institution.
