Liverpool are willing to listen to offers for Mario Balotelli, sources have told ESPN FC, amid reports Lazio are closing in on the striker.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is ready to let the Italy international go if a deal can be struck, and a number of Serie A clubs have been linked.
Italian newspaper La Repubblica has claimed that Lazio sounded out Mino Raiola, the striker’s agent, over a potential season-long loan during negotiations to sign Ricardo Kishna from Ajax.
On Thursday morning, Sky Sport Italia reported that the Biancocelesti had opened talks with Liverpool and hope to land Balotelli in time for the Serie A club’s Champions League playoff fixtures at the end of August.
He scored four goals last season, and frustrated Rodgers with a series of disappointing performances.
The manager left him out of his squad for the recent preseason tour of the Far East and Australia, but told media during the trip that it was ultimately up to the striker whether he stayed at the club.
