The DG of Ghana’s Ports and Harbors Authority: Underscored ventures in Bolstering Trade Ties with Burkina Faso in Transit Trade

NEW AFRICA DAILY NEWS (NADN) Freetown, Sierra Leone– In offering port facilities and ensuring that cargo and ships are handled in the most effective and efficient manner.
Luguje expressed clarity when a delegation from the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce led by its Director General – Mahamady Koussoube paid a working visit to the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority to dialog on issues of common interest and same revamp trade relations between the duo institutions.
He explained on the alacrity of the Port Authority to engage and collaborate with existing clients and hopeful customers who bring business to the port.
“Our responsibility is to provide port facilities and ensure that cargo and ships are handled efficiently. It is the cargo that gives us business so we are always happy to work and collaborate with anybody that will help bring business through our ports,” he noted.
He applauded the quality of collaboration between the Ghana and Burkina Faso and guaranteed that GPHA will remain to play a vital role in navigating trade for the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce.
“For GPHA in particular, our attempt to develop the transit trade into the landlocked countries starting with Burkina Faso, the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce has been our first point of contact. Way back in 1998 and 1999, Burkina Chamber of Commerce has been at the forefront of facilitating our entry into Burkina Faso, acting as our spokesperson in Burkina Faso to promote Ghana’s ports,” he noted.
The Director in charge of the Keta Port project, Dr. Alexander Adusei let out, the delegation on how to entice investors to the Port.
“The development partners we are looking for are not just ones with money to build but also ones with money to drive traffic to recoup their investment. That is why your interest is very promising, that if your users have the will to put their money through the Keta Port Project, then you have an exclusive presence in a port, and you can partner with shipping lines and bring your cargo to Keta Port,” he let out.
