NEW AFRICA DAILY NEWS (NADN) Freetown, Sierra Leone- In completion of administration’s of Sierra Leone ambition to improve digitalized operations in Ministries, Department and Agencies, (MDAs) that would strengthen Egovernance, efficient and effective service delivery, the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources has aligned with Amsoft technologies – an indigenous Software Development Firm to deliver a potent Canoe Registration Web Portal and Migratory Application. The system was formulated in alliance with the ministry’s ICT department.

Submitting the technology to the Management Staff of the ministry at the conference hall of the ministry on Thursday, 11th February, 2021, the Chief Executive of the fir – Momodu Deen Swarray stated on Thursday February 11th, 2021stated, the notion of improving the program begun in 2020 and ensured that, when exclusively expanded, it would give an alternative for the ministry to nab valid data during the nationwide canoe registration exercise. The system was designed in collaboration with the ministry’s ICT department.

Once detailed information such as names of the canoe and owner are captured by the Web application, he said, it will be electronically disseminated to the ministry’s website whilst the Mobile application, gives an opportunity for management to regulate the activities of staff collecting data in the field on a daily basis.

Management staff of the ministry, including the Minister, Deputy Minister, Permanent Secretary, and Director, later suggested significant recommendations and observations, intended for at reinforcing the technology and acknowledged the effort of the firm. The Software expert vowed to integrate salient contributions from staff of the ministry to confirm that a well-designed platform that would stand the “test of time” is developed. When fully designed, the platform will serve as a driving force that would support the ministry to effectively manage the fisheries sector.
