Nigeria’s Cargo Airline: Allied Air amasses Boeing 737-800 freighter jet

NEW AFRICA DAILY NEWS (NADN) Freetown, Sierra Leone- Allied Air of Nigeria, begets a Boeing 737-800 freighter jet, greatly to the pleasure of the Minister of Aviation – Hadi Sirika and the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, amongst others. Specifically, the recent accession plops the IATA authorized cargo airline on top other freight operators on the African continent. The airline is similarly the first cargo airline in Africa to achieve the IOSA certificate and has begun again to revive it since 2016.

Sirika, Emefiele, and the Access Bank Group Managing Director, Hubert Wigwe, along with other government administrators, collected the recently amassed aircraft at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The acquired freighter (MSN 36846) is the youngest 737-800 in the world to be transformed to freighter date. Also, Allied Air is the first airline in Africa to own and operate a B737-800SF on the continent.

B737-800SF Cargo Conversion comprises of the installation of a 86″ x 137″ cargo door on the left side of the fuselage, and modification of the main deck to a Class E cargo compartment.

Thereon conversion, the aircraft can carry eleven 88″ x 125″ AAA full height containers or pallets plus one AEP/AEH, with pallet weights up to 9,000 lbs. It can lodge eleven 88″x125″ AAA full height containers or pallets plus one AEP/AEH Up to 52,700 LB (23,904 KG) Main Deck Payload (depending on Model & Aircraft Weight Limits) Reinforced Floor structure for the highest average position weights in the industry 86″ x 140″ cargo door Single Vent Door System High reliability, 28VDC, independent cargo door hydraulic system Cabin windows replaced with lightweight aluminum window plugs 9g rigid cargo/smoke barrier with sliding door Relocated DFDR for 84.5″ + ceiling height throughout cargo compartment, including last position Stretch Formed fuselage skins 5
Supernumerary Seats, a galley and full lavatory.
