NEW AFRICA DAILY NEWS (NADN) Freetown, Sierra Leone- This commitment intends for at concentrating on the affiliation between TotalEnergies EP Uganda and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development of Uganda in a bid to guaranteeing energy security and energy transition in the nation.

This alliance pursues the constitution of a framework approval for the enterprise of large-scale renewable energy projects in Uganda through an MoU entered 1st February 2022.

Thereafter, the Administration of Uganda noticed and recommended six feasible locales in: Kapeeka (20MW), Iganga (20MW), Tororo (20MW), Kumi (20MW), Bukedea (20MW) and Paliisa (20MW) for development by TotalEnergies EP Uganda.

Mumbling at the signing, Philippe Groueix – General Manager TotalEnergies EP Uganda explained, “In line with our Global multi-energy strategy and commitment to develop 1GW of renewable energy in Uganda by 2030, TotalEnergies EP Uganda will undertake feasibility studies and develop these Solar PV projects in accordance with today’s signed project agreement and the applicable laws.

The realization of this project development will also contribute towards our Global ambition to reach 100 GW of renewable production by 2030.”

TotalEnergies weather intention to earn to Net Zero by 2050 and lasting modification into a multi-energy company plops the endurable improvement goals at the heart of the Company strategy, thus TotalEnergies EP Uganda strives to bestow to this purpose by launching projects that will enable the energy transition and assist to grasp climate change.

The Administration of Uganda recognized Solar PV technology as an important renewable energy technology that will confirm that, it fulfills its emission marks under the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) but alsoilarly, its energy wants in the short, medium to long term in line with the National Vision 2040.
