NEW AFRICA DAILY NEWS (NADN) Freetown, Sierra Leone– This Agric-tech platform will enable Kenya agriculturalists to produce informed, data driven farming determinations and monitor yields utilizing satellite imagery and artificial intelligence.

A national digital program for satellite and artificial intelligence (AI) crop monitoring and yield forecasting is being formulated in Kenya by the Directorate of Resource Surveys and Remote Sensing (DRSRS) and Agri-Sensing Technology company, Agri-vision.

Charles Situma – DSSR Deputy Director noted, the platform will insist on the capacity to digitally monitor and identify various crops across Kenya . Likewise, it is anticipated to give growers’ authorities access to a sophisticated analytics tool to improve authorities’ decision-making. 30% of the gross domestic product of the Kenyan economy comes from the Agriculture Sector.

According to Situma, the agrarian enterprise and decision-makers could enhance sustainable food security with the aid of digital technology, the Agri-vision Chief Operations Officer – Oscar Mwai, lets the organization’s agriculturalists’ decisions to make more sustainable food security programs by delivering them with exact information boils, crops, and food programs to the majority of Kenyans. Farming is the main source of revenue when it comes to food security, economic growth, job creation off-farm employment, and foreign exchange profits.

However, the sector is currently fragile to climate change, partially as a result of the growing temperatures, drought, and shifting patterns of rainfall.
