Ghanaian Cocoa Farmers: Loosing Farms to illegal Mining

BY ANIN AGYEI- NEW AFRICA DAILY  NEWS, Accra, Ghana- A NUMBER of cocoa farmers at Kwahu West Municipality in the Eastern Region are gradually losing their cocoa farms to galamsey activities being perpetuated by some foreigners nationals. Information gathered indicates that these foreign nationals have pitched camp in some communities and engaging in illegal mining popularly known as galamsey destroying over 1000 acres of cocoa farms. The most affected areas are Essaase, Adumasua, Yaakorkor, Ahantanan and surrounding communities, sold out their cocoa farms to these galamsey operators who use gold detector machines for easy identification. OPEC Fund for International Development: Bestowing $13 Million to a $453 Million Funding Package to aid the Construction of Landmark Hydroelectric Plant

Ghana: Health Service says Outbreak of H3N2 Flu Under Control

BY ANIN AGYEI- NEW AFRICA DAILY  NEWS, Accra- Ghana Health Service has giving the assurance that the outbreak of the H3N2 flu also known as seasonal flu or the Varian Virus disease is contained. Last weekend, there were report that over 400 students were quarantined in three secondary schools in the Eastern Region over the outbreak of the H3N2 Flu in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality. The schools affected included Krobo Girls Senior High School, Akuse Methodist Senior High Technical School (AMEST) and Legacy College – a private School were all quarantined for treatment.
