NEW AFRICA DAILY NEWS (NADN) Freetown, Sierra Leone- Regardless of obtaining Nigeria to hoist her candidacy for the employment of Director General of the World Trade Organization, retired Minister of Finance in the Republic of Nigeria – Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has assumed American citizenship Bloomberg finds, the erstwhile Minister of Finance took the US citizenship last year.

Ostensively, Nigeria begot in July of 2020 appointed Okonjo-Iweala as its hopeful for the World Trade Organization prime office. President Muhammadu Buhari made this known in an official declaration through the Nigerian Embassy and Permanent Mission to the African Union and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The President announced, Okonjo-Iweala would fulfill as Nigeria’s candidate for the term 2021–2025 at the elections slated for Geneva, Switzerland, in 2021. Conclusions by according to news expressed that, a foreigner planning to assuage as a naturalized American citizen must disavow his or her country and give attention to an oath-swearing ceremony to assert fidelity to the United States of America.
