NEW AFRICA DAILY NEWS (NADN) Freetown, Sierra Leone– The Cabinet Secretary remarked that, these digital hubs will retain the capacity to generate 300 jobs and create not less than 1,500 jobs in each constituency.

“In each constituency, we are going to create a minimum of 1,500 jobs by setting up a minimum of five digital hubs, with each hub capable of generating 300 jobs. This leveraging of technology is going to be a gamechanger for this country,” he noted.

Eliud guaranteed that; these innovations will be vital in enhancing and making it subtle for the youth to learn digital skills and connecting them to global technological firms for digital jobs.

“Connectivity is only useful if there is universal access, and that’s why we are going the full scope to ensure that all our interventions are cascaded downwards to the lowest levels,” he stated.

Owalo exhorted the county governments to empower marginalized communities and provide equal access to digital resources and opportunities, stressing that the private sector cannot single-handedly promote the universal connectivity goal.

“If we leave digitization in the hands of the private sector, then we run the risk of not having universal access because the private sector is driven by the profit motive,” he noted.

He added that, the Ministry will relate with the Council of Governors and same set up Wi-Fi spots in the markets, which will be crucial to expanding trade.
