President William Ruto of Kenya: Urged fellow African Rulers to address on Agribusiness beyond Production to Value Addition and Manufacturing

NEW AFRICA DAILY NEWS (NADN) Freetown, Sierra Leone- President Ruto told, Africa has the probable to produce excess food for export remarking that, it cod generate additional revenue and create jobs, particularly for the youth.
Speaking during the Dakar 2 Summit – Feed Africa in Senegal on Wednesday, January 25th, 2023 President Ruto said these are the drives that will renovate Africa.
“We should not be discussing food 60 years after independence.“
In a panel discussion of ten Heads of State and governments, President Ruto asserted the upscaling of farming in the landmass would compel the right information, technology, improved irrigation and mechanization.
“Young people are also critical in the revival of our agricultural activities. The greater the infusion of technology, the better the returns.”
He advised against dependency on rain-fed agriculture saying many countries in Africa experience hunger due to this.
Irrigation, the President explained, will assure Africa of enough food for consumption and export.
“There is no magic to enhanced agricultural production; more fertilizer use translates to more production.”
Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu advised the Summit that Tanzania has devoted reserves to enable the youth develop agricultural land and fund them to seek agriculture.
Dr. Akinwumi Adesina – the African Development Bank (AfDB) President, called on Africa to employ its enormous arable land to feed itself.
“What Africa does with agriculture today will determine the future of food security in the world,” he remarked.
He let out AfDB will subsidize Sh1.2 Trillion in the following five years to help the production in Africa. Africa must feed itself,” he asserted.
