The 55-nation Africa Union (AU) will reflect the event in a ceremony that appears just hours after the UK evacuates the European Union’s single market and a new post-Brexit trade agreement immigrates into force. The primary goods will start to seep under an African–wide free-trade agreement on Friday, the completion of more than five years of negotiations on slicing cross-border tariffs. Africa is envisaged to be the world’s vastest free-trade zone by area when its covenant comes to be fully functional by 2030.
